The Novo-Ziminskaya CHPP plays a crucial role in supplying heat and electricity to the cities of Sayansk and Zima, as well as surrounding districts in the Irkutsk Region. The plant supplies energy to major industrial facilities such as the Sayanskkhimplast chemical combine, as well as to residential areas.

The Novo-Ziminskaya CHPP began construction in 1974 as a subsidiary of a chemical combine. In 1980, the first power boiler was put into operation there. As the city grew, its demand for electricity increased as well. In 1990, Phase II of the CHPP was launched with the commissioning of the fourth boiler unit.

It is the newest power plant that belongs to En+.
